Biography

Dr Katie Liston has worked in the Higher Education sector since 1998, having completed her PhD in sociology at University College Dublin. She joined Ulster University in 2008 as part of the teaching and research team in the social sciences of sport. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and of the Institute for Leadership and Management. She is a member of the Sport and Exercise Sciences Research Institute and is involved in civic engagement work with various sporting organisations. Dr Liston’s sporting background includes national and international honours in team sports (Gaelic football, rugby union and football/soccer) and wide-ranging administrative, management and coaching experience. Dr Liston appears regularly on national media (tv and radio) as a social commentator on sport and identity (gender, nationality, concussion).
