Personal profile


Dr Maeve Kerr graduated from Ulster University with a BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition (1998-2002), followed by a PhD in Nutrition (2002-2006).  Maeve worked as a Research Associate within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) on a range of externally funded research projects (2006-2014), before taking up her current post as Lecturer in Food Regulatory Affairs within the School of Biomedical Sciences, in 2014.   Maeve’s research interests are in obesity, food and health with a particular focus on the effects of portion size on food and energy intake; dietary guidance for young children, and B vitamins in women’s health. Maeve’s teaching responsibilities include: International food regulatory affairs; nutrition through the life cycle; health promotion, nutrition education and public health nutrition, and dietary assessment and food habits. Maeve is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), member of the Nutrition Society and Liaison Representative for the Nutrition Society and the Association for Nutrition (AfN).
