Objectives:The primary objective of this work was to devise simple means of performing optical detection of species within microchannels compatible with μTAS applications.Secondary objectives were:• To permit detection anywhere within a microchannel without mechanical movement of the light source or detector.• To be able to detect refractive index, optical absorption and fluorescence with common instrumentation.• To be able to use a wide range of wavelengths. • To provide detection schemes compatible with electrokinetic sample transport and separation.
