Abstract

This interactive database contains photographs, logistical, legal and historical details about over 110 locations for filming in the Causeway Coast and Glens council area on the beautiful north coast of Northern Ireland. This area was featured in scenes in Game of Thrones (2000-2009), Artemus Fowl (2020), Open Golf (2019) and other major international film and television productions. The database is aimed at film, TV and marketing producers and directors to assist their search for suitable filming locations and to streamline the process of getting consent/insurance. The database was designed in a collaboration with Ulster University, School of Communications and Media and its Centre for Media Research. It was led by Dr Colm Murphy and project managed by Andrew Allen in consultation with Niall McGurk at Causeway Coast and Glens Council and external software consultants. It was based on policy recommendations in the report Framing the Future (2015), written by Colm Murphy and others. It is key to developing further the area's economic, tourism and cultural potential by attracting and hosting major audio-visual productions. Access is free but requires registration with Causeway Coast and Glen's council. Follow the link to this on the website.
