Abstract

This presentation discussed the impact of ethical considerations on engagements with children and young people in museum and gallery education, specifically examining the role of the artist within such engagements. Examples were presented, in particular where those engagements have explored notions of identity, understanding and having empathy for difference. The concluding comments discussed the challenges surrounding inter-generational perceptions and beliefs and the importance of understanding value systems.
